LOGGING IN THE LEVANEN FAMILY, started in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, migrating to the west coast at Glide, OR in 1952. Here, Raymond Levanen started with a Cat 9U D6 cable blade dozer. In the early nineteen sixties, Ray and his partner were presented with the opportunity to own and operate a rock pit around Vancouver, WA. They ran the rock pit as well as logging until 1967 when they dissolved the partnership. Ray kept the logging side of the business and raised his three boys in and around the industry. Raymond Levanen Logging was primarily a ground based logging operation managing private area tree farms.

Scott Levanen
SCOTT LEVANEN WORKED WITH HIS FATHER RAY in the woods from the time he was a young boy. After high school he spent a year at
a community college studying engineering. When Ray suffered a heart attack in 1980, Scott returned to the woods to help out. After
his father’s recovery, he continued working for his father and also for Abernathy Tree-0 and Kysar Logging, where he broadened his
background in the logging industry.IN 1985, Scott decided to try something different and took a position working at a grain elevator in Kalama, WA. Logging was in a down cycle and the job provided certainty and a predictable paycheck for his family. After three years he missed the woods and the opportunity arose to join with his cousin Mark in forming a partnership. This was then the birth of Levanen Inc. in 1989. Work at the grain elevator was seasonal, with the busy season September through May and his schedule allowed Scott to work two jobs for 18 years. The company began small with a skidder and a loader. Levanen Inc. began working primarily on private timber land. Eventually as opportunities arose they began working on larger jobs on public timberlands and added a tower and a cut-to-length thinning side to fulfill the needs within the industry.
TODAY, LEVANEN INC. IS A WELL ROUNDED COMPANY, able to perform both thinning and clear cut harvests on all types of ground. We hold ourselves and our employees to high standards in handling and manufacturing of logs as we harvest not only our own timber, but also timber for others. We achieve this company standard with extensive training of our operators on and off the job with one on one communication on each harvest unit. We treat every job as if it were our own, and bring this approach to your timber stands. We take pride in our quality of work. Our goal is to provide you with the highest quality end product, while adhering to strict safety and environmental standards.
